I'm not on retainer!

Was caught in the matrix of projects yesterday. Got so wrapped up did'nt get a minute to post. A project I have been sitting around waiting for it to start finally kicked in and I almost decided I wouldnt take it on (which would have been stooopid on my part). But I just got really fed up when they told me they may need me to cut my trip to MIA short next week. I felt like I had been waiting around for a project that should have gotten started a month ago. I wasnt on retainer and wasnt going to put my life on hold any longer so I had booked this trip. Oh, and I told them this too..almost talked myself right out of the gig!! Aye!! But I then thought about it (logically)and decided it would be in my best interest to cut the dang vacay short if need be...so I backpedaled! Damn career goals keep getting in the way of chilling on the beach:)

I read this yesterday & thought this was a quite kool. Check it out...

" Those who know the great joy of reading have richer lives and broader perspectives than those who do not. You can travel east, west, north, and south and become acquainted with new people and places in books. Reading transcends time. You can go on an expedition with Alexander the Great or become friends with people like Socrates or Victor Hugo and hold dialogues with them." ~ Daisaku Ikeda

How often do you read? I am one of those people who reads everything..signs, billboards, books, magazines, small print, fine print...maybe I'm just nosey! Right now I'm reading this book "Black Girl in Paris" it is AWESOME. I love ("me encanta" feels like a better way to express the feeling) traveling to ar away places so reading books that involve textured descriptions of other cities and countries takes me awaayyyyyyyyy! So, every night this week I have been in Paris.

Oh, and "I think it just got a little easier out there for a pimp!"- Jon Stewart ...that about sums up my thoughts on the Oscars.

I was talking to someone recently about how it feels to work in NY vs working in DC. The vibe up there is just TOTALLY different than it is down here (obviously). There are so many people vying for every single open position there that you kinda end up feeling like the job owns you rather than you owning the job. I always hated feeling like an indentured servant.

Maybe that was just a me thing?

And didn't you just LOVE that they won the Oscar for best song? Oh, that was an historical moment right there! ;)
