Dont Disturb This Groove...

Me, my parents owned a nightclub when I was growing up. Well actually more than one but always at least one. In the late 80's early& 90's they had the biggest club in town. I remember being able to go to "the club" -- thats what we called it-- at night when celebrities would come to perform. I met Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam (and let me tell you I was mega excited!), met New Edition and later BBD - oh, you couldn't tell me and my sister NATHAN, NADA! (we were the ISH), the guy that sang "AND MAMA USED TO SAY-TAKE YOUR TIME YOUNG MAN..." Kurtis Blow was there (didnt meet him though was too young then), The System who arguably had one of the hottest songs EVER with Dont Disturb This Groove...right?!! SO fucking "fantastical!" Yeah, those were THE DAYS. I was so happy then. I am the oldest of five and we had a rocking house ALL THE TIME. Its the reason why now I cannot just be "in the quiet." I must have a TV on, a radio, Ipod- something! I need background-energy. So many days I wish I could snap these cute, little, danty fingers of mine and be back in 1988 when my mommy was still here and my family was all in one house - even though we were mostly fighting:) It was the single best feeling I have ever felt. I hope I will have this fullness again when its time for me to start my familia. In the meantime, I talk to my mommy in my dreams, live for holidays, and now have neices and nephews added to the par-tay.
